  • Zermatt: Gornergrat Bahn Cogwheel Train Ticket

    1. Zermatt: Gornergrat Bahn Cogwheel Train Ticket

Cross stunning bridges, ride through galleries and tunnels, idyllic forests, past gorges and mountain lakes as your climb the Gornergrat on the cogwheel train with the Matterhorn continually in view. At the summit, explore the picturesque alpine world of the Swiss Alps. With a sunny observation deck that remains accessible throughout the year, the Gornergrat at 3,089 metres above sea level provides spectacular views. The Gornergrat is surrounded by 29 four-thousand metre peaks including the highest Swiss mountain, the Dufourspitze, which has an altitude of 4,634 metres, and the third-largest glacier in the Alps, the Gorner glacier. The mountainscape panorama you'll experience is completely unique.

Spectacular View of the Matterhorn on an (almost) cloudless day - 09-03-21. You'll be disappointed if it is overcast and the mountains are not visible. My day was almost perfect and I could see and capture pictures and memories of all the 3,000m + peaks. Be caseful of the lack of oxygen at that height. Walk slowly, breath deeply.

Not a very busy day in early September 2021 - so everything at the very top was closed. Nevertheless a pretty good view of the Matterhorn Glacier, on a partially cloudy day. The cable cars are excellent (though not as modern as those new ones at JungFrau). There are actually 4 lifts that interconnect, so you never have to leave the same car. Cars have external racks for both mountain bikes and skiis.

"Unearthly" even attraction. Several different cable cars. Possibility of a change at each station to take photos or a little trekking. Beautiful views, the majestic Matterhorn almost at your fingertips and that adrenaline rush at the entrance to the top. Personally, I advise against people with fear of heights

Great experience and definitely worth the price in good weather. Since the booking can only be made shortly before the start, you can plan the weather well. It was a bit cumbersome at the ticket counter because we had to send our voucher by email and they would print it out. But it worked out well.

The mountain railways in Switzerland are all very expensive. But because we had such fantastic weather it was worth every franc. It was not so great that the lanes are way too full during the Corona period. There is very little responsibility to be seen on the part of the railway company.

The exchange of the voucher at the cash register went smoothly.
