Discover the historic village of Belchite with a passionate local. Meet one of the producers in a family-run olive orchard and discover the history of olive oil production in Spain. Tour the grounds, visit the hundred-year-old olive trees, and indulge in the taste of oil olive made from the local Empeltre olive. Continue on through the ancient village of Belchite, which now serves as a memorial-site for the Spanish Civil War. You won’t be surprised to hear the myriad movies shot in this remarkable ghost town, including Guillermo del Toro’s famous Pan’s Labyrinth. Indulge in traditional Spanish food at a local restaurant. A very interesting and informative tour. History of the painful past in Spain and evidence of the triumph of the human spirit. The ruins of the old town of Belchite are very moving and the tour was well organized. Seeing a functioning olive oil mill and olive grove were highlights of our trip to Spain. Jorge was very interesting and well-informed. He has the inside scoop and is accommodating and engaging. A must see!!!

This was the second outing we had with Jorge in two days and again he was fabulous as a guide and as a new friend. The trip itself was extremely interesting and we now have a new understanding of how the best olive oils are produced. It is almost the same as how great wines are created. And the tour of Belchite was extremely interesting as we learned of a very sad chapter in the history of Spain. All in all, a great experience. Jorge even gave us some recommendations concerning things to do and places to eat as we continue our journey through Spain.
