Embark on an adventurous full day tour and discover the pleasure of hiking in this area! Your morning will start with a pick-up from your hotel in Yerevan, in order to start the trekking experience. While driving to your starting point, Kari Lich, you will admire the green endless pastures on the way. On the journey, you will have a stop at a mystic place, where everything is against the laws of physics. The water here does not flow down but it goes upward. The vehicle drives up to the hill itself without its driver. It is unbelievable, however, this is the natural phenomenon  that you will witness. Next, you will go to the town of Dilijan to start your trek from Lake Parz, which is nestled in the heart of the forest and is known for its relaxing surrounding nature. Your guide will meet you at your hotel from where your vehicle will take you to the village of Kaputan, where the adventurous hiking to Gutanasar Mountain will begin. Gutanasar is an extinct volcano of the Geghama Range, and boasts incredible views of the surrounding region. The lava flow traces are still visible from the left slope of the mountain, and the summit of the mountain, at a height of 2,299 meters, grants magnificent views of the Geghama Range, the fertile plain of Ararat with the biblical mountain of the same name. Leave Yerevan in the morning and head to the Kasakh Gorge, just a 45 minute drive from the city. Arrive at Hovhannavank Monastery (also known as the Monastery of St. John the Apostle), an impressive example of medieval architecture that was built in two phases, first during the fourth century and second during the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. Pass through the village of Ohanavan and descend into the Kasakh Canyon, where the beautiful river of the same name flows and dramatic geological formations along rock cliffs combine with structures from the first and second millennia BC. Hike along the canyon to reach the orchards of the village Saghmosavan and check out the Saghmosavank Monastery (Monastery of the Psalms) which overlooks the gorge like its sister Hovhannavank Monastery. Learn about the unique architecture of a thirteenth century structure, which, poised atop a precipitous cliff face, dominates the ridge line and has an impressive silhouette that can be seen from the neighboring villages. Explore the old annex of monastery dug deep into the rock and admire the spectacular views of the gorge below before heading back to Yerevan.

8. From Yerevan: Trek from Bjni to Tsaghkadzor

Be collected at your accommodation by your guide and begin your adventurous day. Head to Bjni, which is a former spa town famous for its mineral water. Once there, visit the ruins of the 10th-century fortress, the 13th-century church Saint-Gevorg, and 10th-century church of St. Astvatsatsin. Your trek will bring you to the high path along the mountain outcrop, where you will be able to admire the valley of Hrazdan, the Tsaghkunyats mountain range, and even the chain of Geghama. Discover interesting geological formations including a natural arch. The final destination of your trek will be the town of Tsaghkadzor, which is a small spa and recreation town and known as a popular ski resort. The town offers many interesting activities and trails for hiking. During the stroll around the town, explore the 13th-century church of Kecharis, where some of the oldest khachkars in Armenia are located. In the evening, you will be returned to the capital city.
