Xi’an Great Tang Dynasty Show and Dumpling Dinner

1. Xi’an Great Tang Dynasty Show and Dumpling Dinner

Xi’an earned its fame as the former Chinese Capital City for 13 dynasties, including during the Tang Dynasty when China was the most powerful empire and Chang’an (the former name of Xi’an) was the biggest international metropolis in the world. The Great Tang Dynasty Show recreates the grand feel of that period with dancing and a musical show. You can also enjoy a dumpling dinner at the theatre (depending on option chosen). You will be picked up from your hotel by a premium car if the transfer option is selected. You will receive the booking information at least one day before the show starts, including your full name, date of show, starting time of the show, the address of the theatre in English and Chinese, and emergency contact number. The shows usually starts at 7:530 PM and you are suggested to get there 30 minutes in advance. After finding your seat with help from the staff, get ready to appreciate an amazing show filled with Tang history and culture. There are five scenes in total of the Tang Dynasty Show telling you the story of the Dynasty's only ever Empress, Wu Ze Tian. Through her life story, the audience will also get to learn about the culture, military history, and religion of the Tang Dynasty. You can also choose to have a dumpling dinner before the show.

Muslim Quarter: Small Group Night Market Foodie Walking Tour

2. Muslim Quarter: Small Group Night Market Foodie Walking Tour

The Muslim Quarter’s narrow lanes are full of butcher shops, sesame oil factories, smaller mosques hidden behind enormous wooden doors, men in white skullcaps and women with their heads covered in colored scarves. Steeped in history, the neighborhood has housed a largely Muslim population since the 7th century. Many of the dishes served have changed little since that time. With a group of 7 people or fewer, this tour will offer incredible smells and tastes. Chefs stir-fry lamb and spices in hot woks set over blazing hot coal ovens. Nearby, hawkers roast walnuts or sell prunes of varying prices and degrees of quality. Stacks of bamboo baskets filled with mutton and beef dumplings steam away next to fresh fruit vendors and old ladies stir-frying potatoes. In addition to tasting the exquisite local cuisine, you can also choose the option to explore the largest and best-preserved of the early mosques of China like the Great Mosque, which was built primarily in the Ming Dynasty when Chinese architectural elements were synthesized into mosque architecture. After walking through the main street, your tour guide will lead you to the small lane in the quarter to the Sajinqiao area, where the real delicacies are.

What people are saying about Xi'an

A very attentive and nice guide: Simon!

I was guided by Simon - we have been a very small group :) So I had the change to ask and talk a lot with him. We had also a nice stop at a tea shop - which was very interesting ... with the help of Simon I learned a lot about China and I enjoyed this evening very much - Thank you, Simon and greetings from Germany!

My guide was Andy. I got lost late so I waited patiently and asked what I wanted to do and helped me. Arranged the car to the hotel, and kept calling me until I went in! Thanks to you, it was good to know every corner

Such a great evening. Well worth the trip, and would recommend to all travellers to Xi’an. The dumpling dinner prior to the show was also exceptional. Great seat given to me by Lenna.
