Fascinating place. Highly recommend. Amazing what was going on underground, beautiful sculptures and chandeliers. Well organised, yes, there are a lot of steps but not all in one go. The guide was very informative telling us events that happened on each level, we got breaks for a few minutes throughout the tour. It wasn’t possible to be socially distant in the lift up to the surface. Outside there is a kiosk selling drinks and a few souvenirs, there is also a BBQ set up, looked like they were selling sausage sandwiches. We had a little hiccup with the pick up, it was sorted efficiently and quickly so no complaints.

    4. From Krakow: Wieliczka Salt Mine Tour

As you walk down the 360 steps into the salt mine, you have the impression you are entering a vast underground city, complete with huge caverns and underground lakes. This underground world has earned a place on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list thanks to the creativity of the miners who carved chapels out of the walls, hundreds of metres below the surface. You will visit the largest of the chapels, dedicated to St Kinga, the patron saint of salt miners. This subterranean church is richly decorated with chandeliers, sculptures, and religious figures carved out of salt. As you follow the 2 1/2-kilometre walk, you'll pass statues dating back to the 18th century depicting mythical, historical and religious figures. The last stop in the mine is the souvenir shop and snack bar. From here, the lift carries you back to the surface.

The company picked us up from the hotel and took us straight to the salt mine. It was a walking tour full of information. They took us three levels down in to the mine.
