Chiang Mai: 4-Hour Wat Umong and Doi Suthep Evening Tour

Mr Kam was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. On the tour was myself, my husband and a young man traveler. Nice small group meant it was easy to ask questions. The trek was not an easy trail at times. We’re used to these types of hikes in our Rocky Mountains, so this was not a problem for us but could be problematic if mobility is an issue. We stopped at the lower temple where a monk ordination was taking place. We were then driven up to the top of Doi Suthep where there was a huge complex temple and LOTS of people- praying, giving offerings- obviously a very religious place for Buddhists. Tourism in Thailand is currently low due to COVID2019 and no Chinese tourists being allowed out of China, so this was the first time we saw so many Asians in one place. Lunch padthai was okay. We stopped at a waterfall and dipped our toes in. Water level is really low due to drought conditions. We were grateful to be driven back to our hotel even tho the description said we wouldn’t be.
Wow wow wow.... the driver and tour guide were so nice. The driver was an excellent photographer and will send you all the pics by airdrop. The elephant sanctuary was just for our group. It was great to have all the elephants for just me and my friends, we got to feed and give them a bath. Lunch was great. I will recommend them to everyone that wants an exclusive and really ethical elephant sanctuary.
It was great! Our tour guide Dee was amazing, he speaks english very good, is very knowledgeable and takes photos for you. He even bought fried crickets for us to try (we wanted that lol). Doi Suthep was very peaceful, it's very pleasant to be there instead of busy city. We have even seen the monks and their ceremony. I recommend this trip, especially Dee as a tour guide!
Started the day early at 05.30am the guide (Jackie) and driver looked after us extremely well all day including significantly adding to our photograph collection. Jackie was also very informative and went into great detail concerning the history of temple and the beginnings of the Buddhist religion. Very enthusiastic competent tour guide.
This was a great tour and Jackie -- a former Buddhist Monk -- was an excellent guide. We learned a tremendous amount from him and enjoyed talking with him, as well as seeing Doi Suthep, a beautiful and beautifully situated temple, and Doi Inathanon, Thailand's highest mountain.
