Fes: Day Trip to Meknes Volubilis and Moulay Idriss
- Pickup available
- Duration: 7 hours

We started the trip with Volubilis where we spent about 2-3 hours, given so much to see. Then we headed to Moulay Idriss, it was a slightly rainy day so did not get to venture much; we did manage to see the mosque for a little bit. from there we drove to Meknes; there we went to a shop where jewelry is made on brass/copper with silver work (prices were a little high), we went to the square of Meknes with snake charmers, monkeys (i.e., a mini Jam el F'na of Marrakesh). Our driver was Zakaria, who guided us and gave us history and background of the places we visited. He drove safely, and we enjoyed chatting with him, sharing history of our countries. Overall, a very good tour.
You can book this with or without a guide. A guide costs about $20 USD more. I went with a guide. Driver, Mustafa, was nice and a good driver. He offered small bits of info along the way. It seems like they use a collection of independent guides so I think the quality can vary. Our Volubilis guide was nice and provided a decent amount of info. Our Meknes guide, Ameen, was wonderful! He was kind, funny, and excited to share information about city and culture. We were taken to one store but there was no pressure to buy.
The day trip was great. Everything was on time, the minibus was comfortable and had excellent WiFi. We had the chance to stop a couple of times to see the view and take pictures. The tour of Volubilis was very informative and interesting, the guide was friendly and knew his stuff. The tour of Meknes was also great, our guide was very knowledgeable and honest about what was worth paying to visit and what was not. The overall experience was impeccable.
Hamzah was the driver and mini guide, he was excellent. On time pickups, enjoyed the drive and the sites were excellent (especially Volubilis). We also had a guide included in Meknes which was a nice touch. A very good day out. Highly recommended.
The tour was really good. We had a very nice driver. He made enough photostopps on the ways to show us also a little bit of the areas we drove by. He was really good in explaining us the most important things to know about Marocco.
