Full description
You start at the centre of Virpazar - a small fishing village located on the shore of Lake Skadar. First, you will paddle through a small channel connecting the village and the open lake. Next, you aim for the bridge that is on your left side. After passing under the bridge, on your right, you will see a fortress called Lesendro. Unfortunately, this fortress has not withstood the test of time and, nowadays, you can see only her ruins. If you enjoy watching the birds, you should paddle around the fortress, which will lead you inside the beginning of river Morača - a bird sanctuary. After that, paddle to the three islands - standing in the middle of the lake. You will aim for the first one and make a circle around it from the right to the left side. You will have the opportunity to go through the most beautiful part of the lake - a small channel that is surrounded by water lilies and reeds covering the waters of Lake Skadar. Take your time and marvel at the wildlife surrounding you. When on the other side of the island - looking at the shore, you will see a few small beaches. If you want to take a break and swim to refresh yourself, any of these beaches is the perfect spot. After your break, you will just need to go back under the bridge, aiming for the entrance to the channel leading you back to Virpazar.

• The name of the local tour operator company is Kingfisher. Meet with them at least 30 minutes before departure to check-in. Their info desk is just before the main bridge in the center of Virpazar. If you have trouble finding them, ask locals for the Kingfisher company, or look out for blue shirts with the Kingfisher logo.

Know before you go

  • Please note that the National park fee is not included in the price. It is mandatory to pay it upon arrival. It costs 5 euros per person (free for children under 15).
  • Keep in mind that, during the summer, Montenegro has constant traffic jams, so be sure to plan your journey to Virpazar ahead. By arriving earlier, you avoid headaches over finding a parking spot for your car.

We took the 3h trip with the kajak which was just amazing!! The fields of grass and the variaty of birds were stunning. We took a lot of pictures so only go with a fully charged phone! On that day the wind was a little bit strong but the waves were still manageble. The people from the rental said in advance that if we take longer it is no problem unless we get back before it‘s dark. In the middle of the trip we stopped at the second bar after the bridge. We were the only guests at first but a very friendly old lady made us some fries, salat and palatschinka. She was the kindest lady that we have met so far in Montenegro because she really took care of us with her delicious food. She really made our day!! At the bar you can also go for a swim. Most essentials: * water !! (Maybe also some juice) * sunglasses * hat / cap * sun cream You will get a 30L waterproof bag from the rental but we also had one with us to store our stuff. Total time of the trip: 5 1/2h

The tour was awesome. The team explained everything in detail and also showed us an extra way for kajaks. We could even prolong the tour up to five hours without any extra costs. There are several beaches, where we stopped to make a swimming break. Definitely would recommend it.

Alles zusammen ein super Service und ein tolles Erlebnis. Auf jeden Fall eine Empfehlung für jeden der den Nationalpark entdecken will.
