From Albir & Benidorm: Chocolate Factory and Market Tour

1. From Albir & Benidorm: Chocolate Factory and Market Tour

The town of Villajoyosa, just a short ride from Benidorm by coach, is the largest chocolate producing town in Spain and home to the largest chocolate producer Valor, who's delicious products are distributed across the globe. On a Thursday, the town comes alive with a street market that the locals flock to, to do their weekly shop in the bustling aisles full of fresh fruits and vegetables, cured meats and stalls selling clothes, shoes home-wares and leather goods. The market has a great atmosphere and you will feel what its like to be a local. Your journey will start with a pickup by air-conditioned coach from one of the points in Albir and Benidorm. Once everyone is on board, the travelling time to Villajoyosa is around 20-25 minutes. Upon arrival, you will be given approximately an hour of free time to explore the market before the exclusive guided visit to the state of the art Valor chocolate factory. There you will pass through a "sensory room", see a video on the companies history and that of chocolate, visit the onsite museum and finally get a taste of the finished product and a chance to purchase, direct from the factor shop. The visit to Valor will last about an hour. Please note, you will not see the production of any chocolate or any of the machinery used in the factory and chocolate making process, for reasons of safety and security. Part of the journey, either to or from Villajoyosa, will take in a scenic route, passing through the town where you will see the brightly coloured houses of its historic center from the comfort of the coach, whilst learning a bit of the history of the town and its local fiestas. The excursion will be accompanied by an English speaking representative who will confirm timings and meeting points on the day. The return journey will be made with drop offs at the original meeting points being made in reverse order, starting in Benidorm and finishing in Albir. Activity duration times are only a guideline and can vary.

What people are saying about Villajoyosa

Alberto was one of the best tour guides one could hope for! He spoke excellent English (and even better Spanish! Lol). He was informative and personable and ready to answer any questions. This was an excellent way to see these two towns plus the chocolate factory was a special treat. Our planned tour lasted longer than 5 hours but no one was complaining because it was so enjoyable.

Excellent tour from start to finish despite a rainy day! Our tour guide Alberto was fantastic. Very informative and interesting with really detailed local knowledge of an area of Spain we love. This was a great quality tour that took us to a couple of places we wouldn’t otherwise have seen.

This was an amazing tour showing old fishing villages, an old wall encircling the village, built originally to keep pirates away. Plus a visit to a fantastic chocolate factory. A most relaxing, enjoyable day.

Beautiful places. Lovely landscape all the way. Excellent guide, Alberto, pleasant, informed on all points. The tour was worth it.

The guide was super nice and helpful. You should have seen the places. I can totally recommend!
