Full description
Benefit from pick-up at your accommodation in Bogotá and drive to the historic town of Villa de Leyva, approximately 4 hours from the city center. Explore the colonial buildings on foot on arrival. Go to the main square (Plaza Mayor), thought to be the largest cobbled square in South America. Get some time for lunch at your own expense, and then discover the attractions of the surrounding area, depending on your interests. Visit the silent 17th-century Convento Santo Ecce Homo or taste the wines of Colombia at the Vineyard Ain Karim. Go to the artificial pools of Pozos Azules if you prefer, and look at the unique colors caused by minerals in the soil. Alternatively, stop at an ostrich farm or discover a house made of clay, said to be the largest piece of pottery in the world! Head to the desert to visit the Muisca Observatory or learn about the prehistoric environment of the region at the Fossil Museum before you drive back to Bogotá and get dropped off at your accommodation.
