Full description

Embark on a hike in the Zagori region at the popular destination of Vikos Gorge. Admire the impressive rock formations and find out more from your guide who has extensive knowledge of the region.

Start your walk from Monodendri and admire its grandeur from a nearby viewpoint. Gain extra insight into how this area was formed from your guide (either an official geomorphologist or a local guide with extensive knowledge).

Walk along the Vikos riverbed as you are dwarfed by enormous cliffs on either side, a truly awe-inspiring experience.

On a hot summer’s day, arriving at the shaded springs of the Voidomatis near the end of the route is really unforgettable. The crystal clear water is drinkable and gushes between the rocks at the riverside to form the Voidomatis River.

Make your way to the abandoned Theotokos Monastery with its quaint chapel built in 1773. Bathe in the nearby icy turquoise pools to refresh yourself. To conclude, there is a short but steep ascent to a rocky outcrop above the gorge. The stunning views provided are truly worth it.
