1. Guided tour - Visconteo - Sforzesco castle in Vigevano
The Vigevano Castle is an architectonical complex of buildings which occupy a surface of about 70,000 square metre and the main parts were built from the Visconti to the Sforza domination. One of these parts is the covered road, a magnificent part of this fortress, was erected as fortified bridge over the town. Other incredible places are the three stables in the castle and Ludovico’s stable is the most impressive. Under Ludovico il Moro domination the castle became like a “hotel the charme” thanks to Leonardo and Bramante influences The latest restorations of the 2000s were in the Maschio/keep, in the ducal apartments where Ludovico il Moro e Beatrice D’Este used to reside. Vigevano Castle represents both an anticipation of the renaissance palace which often evolved right out of a pre-existing castle and a refined version of the traditional Visconti citadel. The tour starts under the Bramante Tower (at infopoint office). The walking tour continues joying the Maschio/keep, the Ludovico stable, the upper part of the covered road and discover the falconry area.
