  • Taste 3 typical Viennese and Austrian wines in a family atmosphere
  • Learn all about Viennese wines and local culture from a private wine expert
  • Get access to a hidden non-public wine cellar and hear about Roman history
  • Top it off with a tasting of Austrian delicacies made by regional producers
Full description

Since time immemorial, around 700 hectares of wine have been cultivated within Vienna's urban area. The roots of viticulture here go as far back as the Romans, who populated the city two thousand years ago.

But what exactly is left of the former empire in Vienna today and how is that related to Viennese wine? Get to the bottom of these questions in the truest sense of the word with a guided wine tasting in the city's deepest and non-public wine cellar.  A professional wine expert will lead you into the cellar to taste three different wines. The wines range from classic Viennese wines to other Austrian wines, which will, of course, be paired with a small snack from the in-house, family-owned delicatessen.

Includes
  • Private guided 3-wine tasting
  • Regional delicacies
  • Exclusive access to a hidden non-public wine cellar

We had an incredible experience with Haas & Haas, learning about the history of wine making in Vienna and sampling their wine to. Bernie was very knowledgeable and made sure the experience was fantastic. The shop itself was also brilliant for gifts/treats after the experience! Would definitely do again when in Vienna!

If you would like to learn about Austrian wines, our host guide is clearly knowledgeable and passionate about the local wine making industry. We tasted 3 very good wines that I most likely would not have had the opportunity to taste back home in the US (not because they are not available, just because there are so many other choices and good wine tends to be expensive and you hate to gamble that wine budget. I know it is not a gamble any longer. Great local food plate. All takes place in very old, beautiful cellar beneath the wine shop. Had a wonderful group of tour partners from Sweden and Denmark, warm and friendly - I was lingering so long that I almost missed my next tour. Thankfully our host came down to tell me that it was almost 4 - I reluctantly said my good byes and hurried to St Stephenplatz. I highly recommend this tour.

Cornelius gave an excellent wine tasting. He was able to combine the history of Vienna with the development of the wine industry. He designed our tasting, based on our preferences. We have lived in Vienna for many years, and he was able to expand our knowledge of Austrian wine. The visit to the historic cellar was self guided.
