Luxembourg City: Hop On Hop Off Castles & Nature Day Tour

1. Luxembourg City: Hop On Hop Off Castles & Nature Day Tour

Embark on a Hop on Hop off Nature and Castle tour, for a full day to discover the history of Luxembourg, from the Middle Ages to the modern age, aboard a modern convertible bus. See Mullerthal, admire the Castle of Vianden, and visit the oldest city in Luxembourg, Echternach. Stops along the bus route: 1. Mullerthal - Schiessentümpel:  The waterfall, known as "Schiessentümpel", with its three water jets on the Black Ernz is one of the most photographed sites in the Mullerthal Region. Begin a 45-minute walking tour. Please make sure to wear good and comfortable shoes. 2. Castle of Beaufort:  The medieval castle of Beaufort was built in four different periods, between the 11th and 17th centuries. You will have 45 minutes to visit the castle or explore the area on your own. 3. Castle of Vianden:  The small medieval town of Vianden and its imposing castle attracts thousands of visitors every year. Try local cuisine at one of the charming restaurants, discover the town’s fortified towers, visit the Castle of Vianden, or take a ride on the chairlift during your 2 hours of free time. 4. Echternach:  The city of Echternach was founded in 698 by the Benedictine monk Willibrord and is the oldest town in Luxembourg. Visit the most beautiful places and buildings of Echternach, like the Basilica, the abbey and the market square during a 45-minute city tour. After visiting Echternach, you will return to the original departure point in Luxembourg City (Monterey avenue).

One of the best Castle-Tours I have ever seen! It is worth to take the audio guide too! (at the location, it costs 2 Euros, one is enough for 2 people). Now, there is a meeting point if you buy the ticket from GetYourGuide but nobody came at the place (approximately 200 meters from the castle entrance) and we waited like fools for 10 minutes... then we went to the Castle entrance and the Cashier had our tickets/information printed. Negative point for GetYourGuide, but I do not want to lower the overall rating for that. It takes around an hour to visit the whole Castle. Another important detail, in the vicinity is Stolzembourg Castle (aprox. 14-15 km). You CANNOT visit it! It is a private property. Maybe you can book some-kind of a private tour but I do not know where or how.

We enjoyed visiting the two castles and seeing the countryside. The tour guide was great! I only wish we had more time to walk around Vianden. They said we had two hours to walk around Vianden, visit the castle, etc. We only had time to visit the castle and when we left after 90 minutes, the bus was right at the entrance of the castle vs at the original drop off location. I had hoped to walk around the city and maybe grab a snack before leaving.

All perfect EXCEPT the driver did not say one word to any of the tour participants. No hello or good bye, no smile or eye contact. We were all very unhappy as he did not explain timings or what was happening....

This was a great tour! An excellent way to see all the best parts of Luxembourg without having to rent a car. All the sites were highly recommended and the tour guide & driver were lovely.

Great driver and great where also the 2 guides: a lady Elii and Mr Patrick. Thanks for trip.
