1. Venice: Four Seasons Concert Ticket at Vivaldi Church
It was in the spacious choir inside the church of Santa Maria della Visitazione, also known as Chiesa della Pietà, that the Daughters of the Choro used to perform, hidden from sight behind high screens . They were young foundling girls , who were taught music and belcanto by celebrated musicians of the time such as Francesco Gasparini, but mostly by Antonio Vivaldi . They became themselves virtuoso musicians , renowned for their art all over Europe. Antonio Vivaldi worked here as a violin teacher starting from 1703 and later on as a concert master as well as teacher of the Daughters of the Choro. These young foundling girls, whose identitity was kept mysterious being hidden from sight throughout their performances, had been abandoned as newborn babies in the so called scafetta , that is where newborn foundlings were left by their anonymous mothers at the Ospedale della Pieta’ . The young girls they were taught music and belcanto according to their talents. In this very church Antonio Vivaldi spent forty years of his life and composed his magnificent works , such as the collection of 12 violin concertos Il Cimento dell’Armonia e dell’Invenzione , which includes his masterpiece Le Quattro Stagioni . And again it is this very church that captures the listener with the inspired performances of the I Virtuosi Italiani, where you can sense the reaping of the wheat , the grape harvest, the summer storms, the snow falling in winter , the warm fall colours and the bright blossoming of flowers in springtime. Vivaldi is Venice itself : the Chiesa della Pietà treasures his genius as well as the fascination of his personality and music .
