We started our holiday with the hop-on-hop-off bus, which was great because we could see quite a lot of sights already and get an idea of where everything is and how far. Since we started our trip on monday in the Covid period, we were the only ones on the bus for a while, so we could sit all the way in the front where you have a great view. The bus itself was neat, the stops are marked rather clear and the people working with this company were super friendly. We recommend getting your tickets activated at Termini, because at the Colosseum you have to walk quite a bit to the next stop. Also we recommend bringing your own earphones/headset since you can just plug them in with an aux cable, though they do have earphones in the bus. The audio tour is ok, but sometimes its not synced to where the bus is situated, because the traffic can be quite tricky, so you're also fine not listening to the guide. The app that comes with the tickets provides some more walking tracks which are nice!
I did not have an option to buy tickets directly for the day and time that I wanted to visit. So I bought the tickets from GYG. The process was simple. Met at their office which it is located a few steps from the Vatican. We walked to the entrance, we were handed our tickets, and off we went on our own at our own pace. We loved it. Some people may want the guided tours.
I had no issues at all. Buses were on time earlier in the day and very close to on time given the traffic of late afternoon. Bus was clean, staff was friendly. Good experience whenever I've booked in the cities where they run. Very good value for the cost.
Unfortunately there were restrictions because of the G20 summit, but big bus tour still made almost everything possible. Very nice audio guide on board. I can only recommend it.
Fantastic tour through one of the most memorable areas of old Europe. We had a fantastic Dutch tour guide - Kees - who swepped us of our feet with his knowledge.. Well done!
