What people are saying about Valley of the Nuns

We were a bit uncertain about booking this trip, because although we were keen to see some more of Madeira, we wanted to avoid a bus trip and didn't hire a car, looking for a more relaxing holiday. Initially, we thought this was a bit expensive, but having had the experience, it is excellent value for money. Our guide, Ruben, was friendly, informative and at no point did we feel insecure on the steep, windy and norrow roads and tracks. The trip uses back roads to explore the stunning countrside, with information about the history, people, agriculture and vegetation. There were stops at viewpoints to appreciate the mountains and valleys and also the tenacity of the people in developing these areas. There were 2 short trips off road, which were fun, standing up in the back of the jeep for the second. We then visited Cabo Girao, the skywalk over the cliff, which we had been keen to do. Lastly, a short stop in Camara da Lobos, a beautiful, colourful fishing village. Loved every minute

We had a sensationally great tour with Angelo. The day before, we had ordered a second jeep so that friends could come with us. We were picked up punctually at Mein Schiff and then the exciting tour began. We drove through the smallest alleys with 2 jeeps, partly off-road, and drove to great vantage points where nobody else could get to. The steepest passages, through deep mud, everything was there. Whether Nonnental or Fischerdorf, where we park in places where nobody else drives, it was a great experience for all 9 in 2 jeeps. Absolutely to be recommended in contrast to many other Jeep Tour offers and at a smart price. And not to forget a big compliment to our driver Angelo, who explained everything about the country and its people to us. He only speaks English and Portuguese, but there are also German-speaking drivers as with our second jeep.

Our guide David picked us up on time, right at the hotel. He drove us to the most beautiful places, on- and off-road. He told us a lot about Madeira and the flora. You would never be able to find or drive such routes alone. We did this tour as a group of three and can fully recommend it!!

Very good activity. He makes us see very beautiful things and goes through places that are difficult to access. Super friendly guide.

Jose was a great guide. He enjoyed off-road driving at least as much as we did. Great tour, clear recommendation!
