2. From Alice Springs: Day Trip to Uluru with BBQ Dinner

Witness the splendor of Uluru on this day trip from Alice Springs. Visit a cultural centre, see rock art on a guided walk, hear some traditional stories, and top It all off with wine and dinner as the sun sets. Depart Alice Springs early to get a taste of the Australian Outback with a stop at Erldunda. Then, continue to Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park to see the domes of the rock formations on your first walk. You will depart the resort late afternoon: sit back and relax as you travel into the amazing Uluru–Kata Tjuta National Park. Your driver guide will provide expert commentary while you enjoy the amazing surroundings and incredible sight of Uluru in the distance. This fascinating icon stands 348 metres high, although most of its mass is below ground level. The tour will travel through the outback landscapes to the entrance of the Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park. From this point, it is only a matter of minutes before the spectre of Uluru rises from the sand dunes to demonstrate its enormity and presence in this country. Your first step allows you a photographic opportunity of this amazing icon. With Uluru looming in front of you, journey toward the base. Walk with your guide to a place of tranquillity. The closer you wander the more you surrender to the realization of the sheer size of this monolith. As you drive around the base, your guide will take you to the entrance of Mutitjulu Waterhole, a semi-permanent watercourse nestled in the contours of Uluru. Here you will learn the Creation stories of Liru (poisonous snake) and Kuniya (python) as well as a number of other stories associated with other prominent Tjukurpa (dreaming) stories. You will see the rock art of the ancients and learn how Uluru was, and still is, a significant location for teaching young Aboriginal people. Your guide will meet you at the entrance of your accommodation at Ayers Rock Resort, from where you will travel through the landscape to the entrance of Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park. From there is it a 40-kilometre journey through the desert landscape to the mighty rock formation. On arrival at the viewing area, walk to the best vantage point to see the 36 domes that comprise this spiritual place while watching the sun's morning glow as the desert comes alive. Make your way to the western side of Kata Tjuta where you will have the opportunity to relax and enjoy an outback picnic breakfast. It is a jam-packed day that lasts almost 24 hours. Well worth the long bus ride. Little stops along the way make you appreciate the nature and the place. Sunset dinner at the end is definitely the highlight and is an amazing way to end the day. Our driver Yad did a fantastic job driving and taking us around!

Great mix of activities: Cultural Centre, walk to cave paintings and waterhole, wine and nibbles and sunset viewing, (although due to stormy weather and complete cloud cover we didn’t get to see an actual sunset). Guides were very good and very knowledgeable.

We really enjoyed the tour, John and Jakob made it extra special with their good sense of humour and overall kindness. The landscape is absolutely amazing and you just feel awed of such Beauty. So majestic!!

Trip was very well organised and carefully thought through. It was a long day but it didn’t feel like it .

The activity is a must! Have an empty belly. The food is amazing.
