Trail starts at historical Plakas bridge which was built in 1866 and ends at Tzaris bridge. Plaka Bridge is a 19th-century stone one-arch bridge in Greece. Its arch of 40 m. (130 ft.) width and 17.61 m. (57 ft. 9 in.) height was the largest one-arch bridge in Greece and the Balkans area but also the third largest one-arch stone bridge in Europe. It also has two small auxiliary arches of 6 m. (20 ft.) width, one on its side. It was "one of the most difficult single-arch bridges to construct". The route has no elevation differences. The area belongs to the Pan-European Network of Protected Areas (NATURA 2000), with wildlife shelters, mainly otters, brown bears and wild goats. Also the area is known for its traditional settlements.
