From Tromsø: Northern Lights Visit at Camp Tamok

1. From Tromsø: Northern Lights Visit at Camp Tamok

Join a comfortable Northern Lights evening at the wilderness center of Camp Tamok, a 90-minute scenic drive from downtown Tromsø in Northern Norway. The right settings to experience the Aurora at its best include a good location, starry sky, solar storms and sitting by the fire outside watching the northern sky. Upon arrival at Camp Tamok, receive warm winter clothing and a thorough presentation about the Aurora Borealis and how to photograph this natural phenomenon. Enjoy a hot meal in a traditional North Norwegian setting around the open fire. If the sky is starry at Camp Tamok, take a short hike near the wilderness centre to stay warm and experience different settings to photograph the Northern Lights. If the sky is cloudy or there is no sign of the Northern Lights, you will still have good value for your money. Whether you see this amazing spectacle or not, a trip to Camp Tamok is an adventure in itself. The dark and silent surroundings provide a genuine Arctic atmosphere. Please note that the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and they can appear early in the evening or late at night.

Our guide Julius was excellent, he looked after us and made our tour interesting, despite no showing of the Northern Lights, which was disappointing. We did other activities to fill the time which were great and his knowledge and communication was exceptional. Really enjoyed it and it was memorable.

great location Very nice and competent supervisors. Perfect organization. Bright full moon night, unfortunately without polar lights.

Very well organized trip to a great camp! The employees are fascinating and very motivated.

A nice walk around the camp to see the aurora borealis
