Full description

Combine a dog sledding adventure followed by a guided visit to the magical Tromsø Ice Domes. Set among high mountains in the beautiful Tamok Valley, the Tromsø Ice Domes are built every year as the Polar Night approaches. For this tour, you will be picked up from the city center of Tromsø, from which you will be taken to the wilderness center in Camp Tamok. Upon arrival at Tromsø Ice Domes, receive warm winter clothing and learn how to steer the dog sled.

Dog sledding with the Alaskan huskies is an active experience. The sled team consists of two and two people on one sled sharing a team of huskies. Teamwork is essential in dog sledding and together with the team, you will help to push on parts of the tour. After the dog sledding, visit the Ice Domes where the ice bar, cinema, and suites have themes ranging from local Sami culture to the Northern Lights conveyed through beautiful colored lighting and wonderful ice sculptures.

Join a guided tour and learn about the construction process of the ice hotel and the impact the snow has on the survival of Arctic animals. There will be time to walk around freely and ask questions to the experienced guide. You will be able to purchase other drinks at the ice restaurant or ice bar. During this combination tour, you will get a chance to visit a small herd of reindeer near the Ice Domes for reindeer feeding.

Loved this experience but be warned, if you are in charge of the sledge it can be very physical pushing it uphill in the snow You are informed of this before setting out though and you do have the option of changing places half way When you are on the level though or going downhill it is pure joy with a chance to meet the dogs after and a bowl of hot stew to finish off Highly recommend

10/02/23: Wow those little doggies are so cute and go like rockets! It was a bit scary at first but once the dogs stopped squabbling it was great. You definitely have to be physically fit and able to help push the sled up inclines in heavy snow to help the dogs and heavy enough to push down the brakes. I definitely recommend goggles in snow so you can see. Thank you to our female guide to moved us up the line so that we didn't have to stop and start behind slower couples. I named our sled dogs 🐕 shout out to cutie pie white dog 'Mayo' (I didn't check for your real name!) The ice domes were amazing I wish we had longer in them though. Nice lamb stew for lunch, I should have asked for gluten free bread. If it's snowing don't wear eye makeup, you're going so fast your eyelashes freeze and then it melts on your face! TIP: Tall people must look out for low branches! Fantastic birthday! Thank you to my husband David for driving the sled all the way! David and Saima xx 🐕 ❤️

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed the dog sledding! It was a dream come true and I would do it again in a heartbeat! The dogs appeared well taken care of and loved, the guide was knowledgeable and attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed our scenic 5 km out and back ride and had so much fun the entire time. Highly recommend switching drivers at the halfway point and bringing something to cover your face as it gets quite cold (even my hair froze!). For lunch I recommend trying the hot berry juice. The reindeer stew was a cool experience but a little salty/watery for my liking. The ice domes visit was quite brief (30-45 mins) but honestly we just peeked into each room and snapped photos, so you didn't need much time. It was a cool add-on but also a bit forgettable. Overall though, highly recommend!
