Full description
To start the adventure, your driver will meet you at the pickup point at the Scandic Ishavshotel 10 minutes before your scheduled departure. You will hop on the comfortable minibus and enjoy the short 35-minute drive out to the kennel on the island of Kvaløya. When you arrive at the kennel, you will be directed to the equipment room, where you will be kitted out with everything you need including winter suits, boots, and headlamps. You will be able to leave any items that you do not need in the lockers.  Once kitted out, you will see the kennel of 130 Alaskan Huskies, who are always excited to meet guests. You will be given a short talk and a demonstration on how to drive a sled and be able to ask any questions that you may have. After everyone is happy with the instructions you will follow your guide up to where your teams are ready and waiting for you. Each pair, one passenger and one driver, will have their own sled. You will be given several opportunities to swap between roles once the trip starts. You will be assisted by staff in setting your team off and you will then follow the guide on the trail. Passengers are welcome to take photos throughout the trip. Once your 90-minute adventure is coming to an end, the staff will assist you in getting back safely to the starting point. Then, you can thank your dogs and make your way into the Sami Lavvo where hot drinks and Hege's famous homemade chocolate cake will be served. Enjoy sharing your stories from the trip around the cozy fireplace until it is time to change out of your suits and hop back on the bus. You will be returned to the pickup point.

Fantastic day at the Arctic Adventure. The huskies were so friendly and cute. The sled ride was awesome (the perfect weather conditions was no disadvantage of course!). We really enjoyed Hege's chocolate cake and coffee, and otherwise her warm hospitality. We also had a good briefing of the huskies and what they do during the different seasons. Thanks for a wonderful day!

Although the weather was not the best we had a marvellous time. Driving the sledges and being passenger on the sledge was just brilliant. Driving, was certainly more energetic that we thought (my husband is 70 and I’m 67), but we still managed, and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The dogs were a delight.

It's a must do when in Tromso, it was the most fun activity of my entire trip. Make sure you are reasonably fit as you will need to push the sled quite a lot every time you get stuck in the snow. Totally worth all the effort and the cake at the end is delicious. Everyone who works there is very nice and understanding. Dogs seem like the happiest canines I have ever seen.
