Full description

Based in Lyngen near Tromsø, visit Camp Troll and experience a day of exploration, excitement, and fun on a snowmobile safari. You can drive a snowmobile beneath giant mountains and learn how these spectacular summits inspired Norwegian Folklore.

Depart from Tromsø city center by bus which will take you to Breivikeidet where you’ll board the ferry as a foot passenger (included). Meet a representative on the other side at Svensby for further transport.

On arrival at base camp, meet your guide and listen as they detail practical instructions on how to handle a snowmobile. Watch a safety demonstration and then get changed before heading out.

Drive your snowmobile in pairs (one driver and one passenger) and get the opportunity to switch drivers at the halfway point. Travel deep into nature whilst exploring the mythical world of trolls on a scenic trail through the Lyngen Alps.

Enjoy time in the beautiful scenery and take pictures, keeping an eye out for the magical trolls you’ll be learning about. Later, head back to the base camp to enjoy a hot meal served around the fire before you depart.

With a full stomach, return to the ferry after your tour, where you will return to Tromsø.

This was the best day of our holiday! From getting the bus to the ferry, ferry ride and then being collected and taken to Camp Troll, very easy. Everyone at Camp Troll were so so friendly and helpful. We had a safety explanation inside while we drank some tea or coffee, then got changed into warmer clothes that were provided and then were given another personal safety demo outside once on the snow mobiles. The bonus was having hand warmers on the snow mobiles which kept us toasty! The journey was incredible and the most beautiful place we’ve ever seen. There were lots of opportunities to take photos too. When we got back we had soup and bread and relaxed before getting back on the ferry. 11/10 experience, I would recommend to everyone! Thank you Camp Troll!

Despite being quite a pricy activity (like pretty much everything in Norway), the snowmobile tour at Camp Troll was definitely worth every Krone. Although the tour was fully booked (20 participants), the group did not feel crowded at all. Three guides looked out for us and they were truly friendly and welcoming. We received a detailed safety instruction and introduction to snowmobiles, everyone was outfitted with proper clothing and then every participant received another thorough explanation of the snowmobile‘s functions - which made riding the snowmobile feel super easy and intuitive. The tour itself was extensive, we spent about 2 1/2 hours driving across the beautiful Norwegian landscape, with a couple of breaks in which we could take photos. The track was really nice, too, with many hills, bends and narrow passages creating a varied and challenging path that was still absolutely managable, even for newbies like us. At the end we were treated with vegetable soup and butter bread.

The Introduction was good, funny guides, I was happy that the equipment saved me from the cold weather . Beautiful view and we got time to take pictures and one guid told us the story’s of the trolls. We were lucky because it was a clean view and new snow.
