Hiking

The journey starts in Tromsø city center where you will be picked up and driven to the mainland where the Viking adventure will begin. After a short drive, you will leave the vehicle behind and go on for a lovely, 1 kilometer hike in the wilderness. At the end of the path you will enter the estate, where, centered on an open courtyard, you can find five large buildings, built according to centuries-old Viking, Medieval, and Sámi techniques. The master builder of the homestead will welcome you to his world, and tell you about his decades-long project, inspired by the ancient lifestyle and traditions of the people of the North. You will even get the chance to hone your Viking skills by participating in axe-throwing and archery. Join this epic adventure today!

One of the local tour operator's main ambitions is participation in dogsled racing. Training of both the dogs and people throughout the years is essential and summer is the time for the new puppies first try at teamwork. Join your experienced handlers and train the youngest sled dogs who are from 4 weeks to 6 months. Take the puppies out for a 1 to 1.5-hour hike close to the husky farm and do different exercises in wilderness depending on the age of the puppies. Suitable for adults and always a hit with the kids. Trek across the landscape outside the camp to let the puppies experience the beautiful scenery. 

Head out of the city toward the coast to begin your hike with your local guide. Walk in the light of the arctic summer night and experience nature up close, learning more about the plants and animals of the region. On this easy hike up a small mountain you will breathe in the fresh air and be amazed by what the Norwegian landscapes have to offer, all in the warm colours of a never-ending sunset. Admire panoromic views of Norway´s famous fjords, peaks, and valleys, allowing for an abundance of excellent photo opportunities throughout the evening.

Explore the spectacular North Norwegian countryside with a trip adjusted to your needs. You will be accompanied by huskies, which are highly energetic dogs – so don’t be surprised if you start to wonder who’s really taking who for a walk! An experienced guide will also accompany you, and on the trip you will see the fjords and mountains that surround Tromsø. You might also get a closer look at some of the North-Norwegian wildlife. Back at the Husky Center you will be served lunch and coffee (made Norwegian style on the fire) with a delicious chocolate cake for dessert in a Sami Lavvo. You will also have the opportunity to pet some of the puppies.

Walking on top of a deep layer of snow, listen to the steady rhythm of your breath. A gorgeous mountain landscapes stretches as far as the eye can see; let the image sink into your mind. For the locals, hiking is more than just another outdoor activity, it is the most intimate way to experience nature. Immerse yourself in the moment and let things fall into perspective; clear your head and refill your batteries. Follow your guide into the Arctic wilderness and experience it all for yourself. The exact route will be determined based on the weather conditions and wishes of the group. If the weather allows, enjoy your homemade chocolate cake and something hot to drink on the trail while taking in the views. Otherwise, indulge in the snack around an open fire at the husky camp upon return. Get to know the fluffy friends and their puppies before heading back to Tromsø.

Visit Cable Car like the locals do: with a fresh walk up the Sherpa steps and a comfortable travel down with the gondola. Our guide will meet you in front of the lower station of the Cable car (Sollivegen 12, 9020 Tromsdalen). The walk starts on a hiking trail, before we embark on the approximately 1300 stone steps. You'll have regular breaks to enjoy the view which reveals it self step by step, while the guide eagerly tells about Tromsø and the area you are hiking in. The walk ends at 410 meters above sea level on the mountain plateau at the Cable Car. Your hard work pays off and you'll get the best prize there is - panoramic view over Tromsø Island. Finally you'll enjoy a well earned cup of coffee and traditional Norwegian waffle, and return comfortably with the gondola.

Meet your guide in the city center of Tromsø, before receiving your equipment and checking out the Tesla Model X that will be your transport for the day. Enjoy a breathtaking drive along the coast, through the fjords and into the mountains, taking in the incredible natural scenery. On the way, we make a quick stop at Hella, a popular historical area along the coast. Here you will receive a lunch package to bring with you on the hike. The hike itself is a quite easy hike of approximately 1km, climbing 136 meters to the top of Ørnfløya. From the top you will get breathtaking views to Sommarøya and Hillesøya and other neighbouring islands including Senja and Håja which was the source of inspiration for the designing of the Arctic Cathedral in Tromsø. Surrounded by these incredible views we will have enough time to eat our lunch, relax and snap some great landscape photos and portraits. Once we have made our way back down, you will be driven back to Tromsø.

The tour leaves from the city center in Tromsø, where you will be picked up and taken on a scenic drive to Hillesøy island, the neighbouring island to Sommarøy. On the way, we make a quick stop at Hella, a popular historical area along the coast. Here you receive a lunch package to bring with you on the hike. From the start of the hike at Hillesøy, a guide will show you the way to the viewpoint at the peak from where you can enjoy the breathtaking views. On request, we could offer to guide you along a more challenging climb with rope-assisted trails on the steeper side of the hill. From the top of Hillesøy, you can locate the neigbouring islands such as Sommarøy, Senja and the famous island Håja (the source of inspiration for designing the Arctic Cathedral in Tromsø). Surrounded by these incredible views, we will take the time to eat our lunch, relax and snap some great landscape photos and portraits. Once we have made our way back down, depending on the pace, there might be some spare time left to explore the town of Sommarøy before catching the bus back to Tromsø.
