Trapani: Trapani Salt Pans and Paceco Sunset Tour

1. Trapani: Trapani Salt Pans and Paceco Sunset Tour

Grab your camera for a sunset van trip to the Saline di Trapani e Paceco nature reserve. Snap pictures of flamingos, avocets, and other birds. Check out the flats where salt has been harvested for centuries. Meet your driver and guide at your hotel before heading outside the city to the reserve. There are almost 1000 hectares for the birds to wander. Bring your telephoto lenses or binoculars for a good view of them while keeping a respectful distance.  Visit the historical buildings that have been turned into a museum. Learn how people have gathered salt at that site for centuries. Check out the windmill, another prime subject for photographers. Watch the sun set over the Mediterranean. Capture the colors reflected in the salt pans, a few final shots of the birds, or some selfies before you return to Trapani.

Erice: then our tour will continue with a visit to Erice, a small medieval village rich in history and tradition which, with its narrow streets, courtyards and temples, seems to have remained stuck in time. Marsala: If time remains available, it will be possible to visit the historic center of Marsala which embraces Piazza della Repubblica dominated by the Mother Church, the Palazzo Senatorio and organize a short visit to one of the famous wine cellars of Marsala, Florio or Pellegrino, where you will be able to discover the techniques of wine production and their evolution.

It was a wonderful experience overall! They come to pick you up where you stay. It's a small group (max 8). The driver is very friendly, kind and knowledgeable, and there is also a bilingual audio guide playing while moving from one place to another. The highlight of the visit is the final destination, the Salt Museum of Nubia. Our guide of the museum was so knowledgeable and inteactive, and it was very stimulating and interesting to learn about the traditional way of making natural salt in the area. The visit concludes with spending time on strolling, taking photos and getting relaxed in the salt field with amazing views until the sun goes down. I just take off one star for the lack of the organization of the pick-up time... This cam be fixed easily in the future, I hope and believe. Other than this, I was satisfied. Highly recommended.

It was a fantastic experience, certainly to be repeated in spring or autumn where there is a greater concentration of flamingos, The sunset over the salt flats is truly magical with the islands of Favignana, Levanzo and Marittimo in the background ... The salt museum a pleasant discovery and very interesting, directly inside a mill of about 700 years ago, the girls are friendly, nice and beautifully explain the history of the salt pan without boring ...

Beautiful excursion with excellent explanations. The final with a fiery sunset over the salt pans was breathtaking!
