What people are saying about Tilcara
Day 1: On the first day we went to Salina Grande with Julio. Very nice guide. He explained everything in detail first in Spanish and then in English. We really liked the tour, we were at an altitude of almost 4170 meters and the salt desert was great. The photos with the special effect turned out really cool. We had a total of 40 minutes, which was ok, but a little more time wouldn't have been bad either. In Purmamarca we went to a restaurant on Julio's recommendation. The food there was delicious. Day 2: The tour guide Maru made the second day. Also a very friendly and approachable tour guide. She explained a lot and questions were very welcome. We were again in Purmarmaca today, we still thought it was nice. The colorful mountains look really impressive. The groups had 12 & 18 people a comfortable size. We drove with a small Mercedes Sprinter. We recommend!
Our guide Angie was knowledgeable and entertaining telling us about the history and legends of the the area. The views are breathtaking, the lunch suggestion delicious and quickly served. The visits to Purmamarca, Tilcara and Humahuaca were hurried. There was a lot to see and no time to walk to the historic sites. Recommend travelers break up the trips into two visits.
Going to Hornocal is being able to witness the artistic side of nature using a palette of 14 colors. Unmissable. There was not the slightest discomfort with the altitude and cold. To get to Hornocal, you will also visit the hill of seven colors in Purmamarca; the artist's palette; Humahuaca.
I travelled with my two children (18 and 3 years old). We all enjoy the scenery, the people in the small towns, the music and art. The Nordic tour guide knew the area and was very patient with everyone.
Very nice tour of all the towns until you reach Humahuaca
