Enjoy a day tour to the Southern Highland of Fjallabak to explore the wonders of Iceland's Landmannalaugar and Hekla Volcano area. Dive into a bubbling wonderland with caramel colored peaks, soothing hot springs, rambling lava flows and clear blue lakes.  Landmannalaugar, together with Hekla, an active volcano in its neighborhood, is one of Iceland's most unique destinations and a must for all who love to explore the beauty of nature. Discover one of the most active geothermal areas flanked by rhyolite mountains and steaming hot springs. A lovely hike; some great views and landscapes, and the thermal pool at the end is beautiful -- so much wilder than city baths. The view from the highest point on the hike is outstanding. Vjeran was a superb guide; very attentive and helpful. It makes all the difference on these kinds of event when your guide so obviously cares about making sure every single person in the party has as good a time as possible. I'd recommend this to anyone.

The landmannalauger trip was my favourite, the mountains are beautiful, the gorge with all the waterfalls was spectacular and the natural hot spring was another highlight of my Iceland trip. I wish there was more time to hike in the mountains and swim in the spring. We had to cut our hike short as otherwise we would not have had enough time to enjoy the water. I would love to come back to visit again!

Since the country was settled in the 9th century, the volcano has erupted about 20 times, often with devastating effects. Hekla was notorious in Medieval Europe when it was believed to be the entrance to hell. The contrasts in landscape are extreme, and the lava and vegetation, shaped by the forces of erosion, make for a spectacular setting. Drive straight up to the edge of the yo...

What people are saying about Thórsmörk

I loved this trip! We had a wonderful guide, (sorry, I forgot his name but he was from Croatia and it began with V) we left from reykjavik and he was very informative with lots of info about the area! He was extremely friendly and very helpful, a great guide! The trip itself was lovely, it was a lot easier than I thought it would be and the scenery is absolutely beautiful. If you come to Iceland during the warmer months this is absolutely a place you need to go! The hot springs were very nice, just be aware the changing area is a several meters from the river so you will have to plan how to move. Also, I find with this website/tour operator the pick up times are extremely confusing as they have different times noted down. Either the tour need to specify this or be prepared to get there early because it’s really confusing. This is the only negative, other than that, the tour was amazing!

Can’t recommend this hike more - it was a unique and wonderful way to experience another part of Iceland. Yes, the tour is a pricey one but you get your money’s worth from taking in spectacular scenery and getting some good exercise as well. The weather is very changeable, however, so it is definitely worth gearing up properly and mentally preparing yourself for rain, wind, snow and the cold. Vjeran was our guide and he was definitely a key part why our hike was so fantastic - he is to be commended for his knowledge of the area, his energy and his skills (including photography)!

I highly recommend this tour. The hike is challenging but the views are amazing when you get to the top! Once in a lifetime experience. You need to do this one!
