My experience was fantastic. A really fun day meeting very friendly people and gaining a lot of insight into past and current socio-cultural climate in Israel and Palestine. You can see so much in one day! The driver was especially kind, and had a lot of interesting things to say about life in the region today. It took away a lot of the misconceptions given by western media. It was a really informative day, yet very chill and relaxing. One thing to keep in mind is that the stops on the tour are subject to change depending on weather, problems at the checkpoint and groups. They kind of mixed a few people together and combined our tours (also because it was raining so some stops were closed). If you're flexible and dont mind that things could change on the day, it's a great experience. However, if you have a very specific need to see a certain site, I would recommend getting in touch with the tour company the night before the tour to check what their plans are.
David Ringler is an awesome guide. With a group of 7 friends, we needed to leave a little later, no issue. The program was very fluid, adjusting to our needs. He is very upbeat and knowledgeable, speaks 7 languages and is very sociable. Even though no food/beverages were included, he bought water, beer, shisha... He will make sure the car is cool when you get back. He will get you to the quiet beach at the Dead Sea. Make sure to carve ample of time out, his stories might take a little longer than you've planned time for! :-)
The tour guide in Bethlehem, was in too much in a hurry, when we are in the Church of Nativity, everything was so fast and we were not able to see the actual cave, I told him I want to pray a bit but in the end he always say we need to go like it is only 9:15am so in the end I was not able to pray and it’s frustrating, plus he brings us to a very expensive souvenir and he always pressured me to be faster in paying, this guide is indeed in awful, it’s not nice, it horrible, just wish that he do his job better.
The travel is early, no problem is not near from Tel Aviv, as expected that time. But the visitors are usually in hotels and they don’t serve the breakfast so early. I pass until 2 o’clock without eating nothing, because in te moment that we stoped to take a coffee, and the place that the guide stoped didn’t have anything to eat, of course we didn’t know the places there ro take things to eat. So I just have something to eat at lunch that was so late.
Bethlehem was a bit disappointing because we got there more than an hour earlier than the Church of the Nativity opened. A very long wait and then we were “herded” through the cave like sheep. However the rest of the trip was excellent - especially our bus driver, Sammi. He made the trip very fun and he was super-accommodating.
