Full description
On this small group guided tour, explore the natural beauty of the Caucasian mountains and some of the area’s most important architecture. As you drive along the Georgian Military Highway, you’ll see important landmarks including the Fort of Ananuri, Friendship Monument, and the highlight of the tour: Gergeti Trinity Church. Your tour starts from Rose Revolution square in Tbilisi, where your guide will welcome you and explain your coming excursion. The first stop will be the Jinvali reservoir, a peaceful lake in the middle of green mountains—perfect for a selfie. Shortly after, you’ll reach the fort of Ananuri, where your guide will teach you about Georgian history and religion. At Gudauri, you’ll have the chance to take in the beauty of the Caucasian mountains at one of the best viewing platforms in Georgia: the Friendship Monument at the Cross Pass. Finally, you’ll reach the highlight of the tour—visit the Gergeti Church on a hill overlooking the Kazbegi village. Built in the 14th century, this church has become a symbol of the country, situated on the top of a steep mountain and surrounded by the vastness of nature. After taking in this spectacular sight, your guide will suggest a restaurant to taste khinkali, famous mountain dumplings, before heading back to Tbilisi.
