With only a few days in in Tangier I had hoped to see its sites and learn a bit about the city but after taking this tour not only were these goals met in full but I also experienced the character and soul of this wonderful place. Omar brought to life the history, the culture and the heart of these wonderful people. We were picked up in a modern, clean, Mercedes van at our hotel for the trip to Asilah and Cape Spartel feeling comfortable and safe at all times with Monsif’s driving. Later we had a delightful traditional lunch at a local restaurant in Tangier. The meal was inexpensive and very good. In the afternoon we continued in Tangier from the Medina to the hills overlooking the city with its beautiful views. The tour was in English which Omar had a perfect command and was very accommodating to mold the tour to our tastes and interests. I have been on many tours around the world and this ranks as one of the best. I would recommend him and this tour to anyone.
The overall experience was very good. It was easy to book and follow up with. We were picked up at our hotel & taken to the train station. Our driver spoke English and helped navigate a slight issue with our train tickets (that was later resolved promptly) The train was comfortable and very smooth. There was a concession car but I didn't visit it. There is no WI-FI on the train at all. Our tour guide (Abdul Salamasri) & driver met us as we got off the train with a very clear sign with our names on it. The car was clean, fairly new and very comfortable. The driver was very safe. Abdul spoke great American English and we had a wonderful tour. We went out to the countryside to see Hercules Grotto as well as where the Atlantic and Mediterranean meet. Then we explored the kasbah and surrounding area.
Our visit was very good, although we didnt know that it was the last days of Ramadan when we reserved... but that was absolutely no problem. Our guide, a kind and friendly Muslim man named Abdul, fasted faithfully all day, both food and water, while making our experience top notch and answering every question knowledgably and in as much detail as we wanted. He was very watchful over us, both in terms of our general safety, and our dealings with the local merchants, to be sure we got a fair shake. He only left for a short period while we ate lunch at a restaurant which only served tourists during the day during Ramadan. Food, drink, and all of our purchases were quite satifactory, and genuine. Tusen takk, Abdul.
In September it can be hot. Be prepared with cool clothing, sunscreen and water. Streets were uncrowded which was great for photographs- and there are many incredible images to be seen in Chefchaouen! Delicious fresh figs and orange juice plus cooling off in the river were refreshing. Don’t miss the panoramic view of the city from the hilltop Spanish Church. Mohamed was an awesome guide who spoke very good English and gave us the history as well as personal experiences with locals (unforgettable!)
Had a wonderful excursion and day with Omar! Him and syed went above and beyond in all aspects. Could not recommend this tour more. They were attentive and ensured we felt safe and comfortable at all times - particularly being two young women travelling. Also highly knowledgeable with the tour and all of Morocco, and were approachable regarding any questions we had
