Full description
Depart from the pier in Tadoussac or Baie-Sainte-Catherine and head out on an observation boat on a tour of the marine ecosystem in Quebec's Saguenay-St-Lawrence Marine Park. On this 3-hour trip, you will have the opportunity to do whale watching, as well as observe geological formations such as the Saguenay Fjord. As you sail along the waters of this marine reserve aboard the Grand Fleuve, keep your eyes peeled for whales. The area is best known for its colony of belugas, but you can also sometimes spot blue whales, minke whales, and fin whales. Then continue your adventure with a short visit into the magnificent Saguenay Fjord! This inlet is 65 miles (105 kilometers) long and is sometimes as wide as 2.5 miles (4 kilometers). The fjord is also in Saguenay Fjord National Park, a park which overlaps with Saguenay-St-Lawrence Marine Park. even though the weather was not cooperating [rain and fog], the boat crew manage to find some patch with better view and we did find a whale that was very cooperating. Starting with a sense of desperation the cruise ended up to be quite interesting with magnificent view a a humpback whale swimming around the boat... even getting out of the water to look at us!!! very impressive.

It was very good, regardless I though we would see the whales a little bit more, like jumping or something cooler, we mostly saw their fin and back. We saw minke whales, beluga whales and a bunch of seals too. My kids (6yrs) had a blast, they were super excited! It was offered in english and french which was good since I have basic to null french.

We were lucky to see a great many Minke and Great Fin whales plus several Beluga. It was truly magical! The only issue was that my children don’t speak French and the English translation was very difficult to understand and also less detailed than anything that was first said in French. Fully bilingual tour guides with easy to understand pronunciation should be expected given the cost of the tour.
