Walvis Bay: 4-Hour Namib Desert and Dunes Photography Tour
- Small group
- Duration: 4 hours
Meet your guides at the scenic Walvis Bay in the afternoon - at this time of day the lighting is just perfect for landscape photography. Proceed along the coastline and photograph the South Atlantic waves lap up against the shore. You might also catch a glimpse of the bay’s wildlife including dolphins, seals, and turtles. As you leave the coast behind, head into the famous Namib Desert, named for its vast and sprawling landscapes. Spend some time exploring and admiring the array of majestic and imposing sand dunes, and soak up the unforgettable and peaceful vista that stretches out before you. With the assistance of your creative guides, snap once-in-a-lifetime photos for your collection, and learn how to compose the perfect photo for this particular landscape. After 4 incredible hours, head back to Walvis Bay where the tour ends.
Your guide will meet you at your accommodation in Walvis Bay at 08:00. After a quick briefing about the day's activities, you'll get into a 4x4 vehicle and depart to your first stop, Dune 7. This is the highest dune in the area at 132 meters. It is well worth climbing for the remarkable view. Depart to the Moon landscape, an extremely arid area with Damara Granites that was pushed through the earth's crust some 500 million years ago. After stopping for photos, head to the Goanikontes Oasis, once a trade route and now a favorite place to relax with family and have some refreshments. After a quick stop, head towards the Welwitchia plains where you'll set up lunch. Lunch usually includes finger snacks, sparking wine, and various beverages. Afterwards, take a scenic route back to your accommodation.
