Full description
Bath has been described as the Monte Carlo and the Las Vegas of Georgian England, and this tour gives you a comfortable morning to explore the city. Everything about the town’s imposing Palladian-style architecture was designed to make a striking visual impact – something that it still achieves today, hundreds of years after its construction. This UNESCO World Heritage Site never fails to wow visitors from around the world. Explore the best of the city, starting with Pulteney Bridge, the Circus, the imposing Royal Crescent and a wander inside Bath Abbey with its huge vaulted ceiling. Your knowledgeable guide will also point out the Celtic links between Bath and Stonehenge, so you leave not only with some fantastic photos but with a real understanding of the town and its landscape.   Perhaps no other site in England can compete with the beauty and mystery of Stonehenge. Hear the theories and draw your own conclusions: could Stonehenge be a site of astronomical importance? A pre-Roman temple? An alien launching pad? What is certain is that the archaeological and engineering importance of this breathtaking site is second to none. During your visit you will have access to the multi-million-pound Visitor Information Centre, where you can see the most cutting-edge modern science and research on this ancient landmark.  This tour includes optional collection from central Oxford hotels or Oxford Train Station included, along with central and Oxford train station return.

Really loved this small group trip there was only 6 of us and the guide driver Freddie. The vehicle we drove in was spacious and comfortable, which was good, because it is one-and-a-half hours to Stonehenge from Oxford, and getting there early certainly helps as it was not crowded at all, and we went straight up to the Stones after a quick coffee. Our guide Freddie was very knowledgeable, and great fun with some of the stories he told. Then after a quick visit to the souvenir shop and a walk round the the information centre it was back in the the minibus and on to Bath which I think took about an hour. After a quick lunch/shop break of about 45 minutes, our guide Freddie took us on a tour of the best of Bath, again he was very knowledgeable about the city and that took about an hour and a half. Then quick restroom break and back in in the minibus to Oxford which again is about an hour and a half.

There were just 4 of us in the group that day, so we got a very personalised tour. Our guide was Mark, who was just fantastic. Apart from his unending fount of knowledge, which he shared with us unstintingly, his main objective was for us to be happy, and he planned and did everything he could to ensure that we were happy. We totally lucked out!

Our guide Mark had a PhD in archeology so he was the perfect person to tour with. He explained everything in a concise and clear fashion. I think doing Stonehenge and Bath is a bit much to pack into one day, it didn’t give us time to visit the visitor center at Stonehenge. I think I would rather do a long 1/2 day at just Stonehenge, but that’s a personal preference. We had 6 people on our tour so it was a small tour.
