Full description
Your adventure begins at Skärgårdens Kanotcenter, where you’ll meet your guide and take part in a safety briefing. Your guide will help you to make some adjustments to the kayak if needed, and will also discuss the route. Once you’re familiar with the basic paddling and safety techniques, it's time to hop into your sea kayak to explore the winter archipelago from the perspective of the water. Follow your guide as you explore the beauty of Vaxholm and admire typical Swedish architecture. With its famous fortress that was used to defend Stockholm and traditional fishing cottages in the harbor, it's the perfect place to get the full archipelago experience. On the other side you'll find one of Stockholm's largest nature reserves. Whilst kayaking and exploring the islands from the water, listen to local stories about the area, which was once home to Vikings over 1,000 years ago. Soak up the scenic winter views and feel immersed in the tranquility, despite being just 30-minutes from Stockholm. At the end of an unforgettable experience, it’s time to begin the journey back to the starting point, admiring the last of the views along the way before warming up over a cup of coffee.

Really amazing winter excursion! Started off our trip to Sweden on such a high note. The guides were amazing and the kayaking was such a great experience. Seeing all the islands and learning fun facts about them all was excellent. And the fika was delightful. This excursion is a must-do if you’re in Sweden!

At the price, I thought twice about booking the tour.. but YES! With the first ferry (about 7:40 a.m.) to Vaxholm I saw a great sunrise and got a first feeling for the archipelago. Then a nice walk on the north side of Vaxholm to the kayak center. Teresa is great as a guide and cordial! Thanks to several layers of clothing and equipment, it didn't get cold at all. It was my first time kayaking, the instruction was good. The tour itself was really wonderful. We had fantastic weather, a fika on an island and got a lot of information about life there. Teresa took many photos and will send them to us. Would book the tour again and again and was really touched by nature! All in all a great day trip!

Kayaking with Andy was so much fun! It was snowing during our adventure, pretty heavily actually, but it was so fun! The dry suit and boots and gloves kept us warm. Make sure to use the gloves they offer--their gear works better than the stuff you brought probably. They know what they're doing. If you go in winter, follow the guidelines about what clothes to bring--lots of layers. We did around 9km of kayaking. It does take some arm strength but if it's not windy it's easy. You don't have to be super fit to do this. Andy was a great guide and it was a once in a lifetime experience!
