From Zurich: Full-Day Mount Stanserhorn Discovery Tour

3. From Zurich: Full-Day Mount Stanserhorn Discovery Tour

On this full-day tour you will discover the magnificent Mount Stanserhorn in the heart of the stunning Swiss countryside. From Zürich you will be taken on a scenic coach journey to Lucerne through the beautiful countryside via the Albis Pass and along the shores of the Lake Lucerne.  Enjoy some time at leisure to explore the Old Town before continuing on to Stans, where you will board the vintage funicular train for an unforgettable ride through blooming meadows to the valley station of the world’s first CabriO cable car. This latest master piece of Swiss engineering is a unique open top aerial cable car which takes you up to Mount Stanserhorn (6,230 feet/1,900 meters). The unimpaired view from the roofless upper deck of the gondola is truly memorable. On the top of the mountain, a magnificent panoramic view over ten lakes, 100 kilometers of the Alpine mountain range and three countries awaits you. Take the short hike to the peak and visit the marmot park to watch these cute animals play, and have the option of sampling a typically Swiss dish in the revolving Rondorama restaurant. After descending to Stans, you will take the public train back to Lucerne for some additional time in this lovely city before taking the coach back to Zurich in the evening.

Lake Lucerne Peninsula e-bike Tour

4. Lake Lucerne Peninsula e-bike Tour

We depart from Lucerne train station and follow the free-car cycle trails. This beautiful and relaxed trail will take you along the lake passing by many public beaches and lake clubs. The view of the Swiss alps in the backdrop is simply breathtaking. We travel a distance of 16 kms/10 miles on battery-assisted pedalling e-bikes which enables everyone with a “normal level of physical fitness” to enjoy this experience. In summer hot days you will find idyllic places for a picnic and swimming. We start this panoramic tour right at the heart of Lucerne city. We ride through the new part of the city along the former railway tracks which now is a cycling and pedestrian highway. Continue your ride enjoying views of the Sport area and local gardens. Follow the trail along the lakeshore and admire wonderful views of the Pilatus, Rigi, Stanserhorn, Bürgenstock and the local vineyards. Along the lake we encounter numerous bathing places which are popular in the summer, the perfect place for a picnic or a break just to enjoy the alpine views. The tour continues with a series of ups and downs. The imposing villas form a marked contrast to the agricultural areas and farms along the road. We stop by one of the most popular lake beaches where locals cool off in hot summer days. We continue towards Lucerne train station where we will end the tour.

What people are saying about Stanserhorn

You can set your watch to trains in Switzerland as they are super reliable. From Basel I visited Bern, Zurich and Lucerne by train and it went smoothly and all great cities. You can visit many museums on the pass also. The Basel Fine Arts Museum and the FIFA Museum in Zurich were included and both were brilliant. I seen that the Zurich art museum was on the pass, but I was told that it wasn't at the ticket office...that was annoying. I paid in anyway and it was great. I definitely would recommend the Swiss travel pass.

This pass made the whole trip so easy! The ability to go get on any train, tram, bus even the boat trip to Mt Rigi in Luzern was a game changer. There was no stress to catch a particular train. Of course, there are some trains that are very crowded but we were able to squeeze into all the ones we wanted. Loved the panoramic one from Luzern to Interlaken. It’s a expensive pass buy super convenient.

The card was great, you could use all trains. But it's only worth it if you use the card intensively on local buses and trains. You can also save money in the process. This then makes traveling within Switzerland easier. You have to remember to always have an ID or passport with you, without it the card cannot be used and will not be recognized.

More time at the stops to take photos or enjoy the landscape, which is actually what one is looking for :)

everything went smoothly and as expected. the instructions for use were accurate.
