1. Mauritius: Bois Cheri, Saint Aubin & La Vanille Nature Park

See the Giant Tortoises of Mauritius and come up-close-and-personal with Nile Crocodiles on a scenic full-day tour of the island’s rugged South Coast. Following a pick up from your hotel, visit the Bois Cheri Tea Factory. The tea route starts in Curepipe at the Colonial Domaine des Aubineaux, built in 1872. Continue to the tea plantations of Bois Cheri. Visit the factory and the museum and enjoy a tea tasting. In the South, visit La Vanille Nature Reserve, also known as the Crocodile Park, and the Colonial estate of Saint Aubin, which contains vanilla and anthurium plantations, an old sugar factory, and the rum distillery, including a tasting followed by lunch. Home to a diverse and large variety of regional flora and fauna, La Vanille is also a breeding center for Giant Tortoises and Nile Crocodiles, which can be seen in abundance. Learn about the different life cycles of the reptiles and watch crocodile feeding time.  Then, go to the former sugar plantation at Saint Aubin and learn more about the island’s traditional crop at the Sugar Factory. While the plantation no longer produces sugar, the grounds include a large tropical garden, rum distillery, small farm, and the magnificent colonial mansion from the 19th century. Taste some of the rum produced in the distillery and sample the fruits of the farm during a traditional Mauritian lunch. Continue to Gris Gris for stunning views of the Indian Ocean and the rugged basalt cliffs of the south coast.

magnificent day, full of discoveries accompanied by our Sailen guide always available and smiling who knew how to share with us all his knowledge on his island, his customs. punctuality and caution on the road seduced us. Sailen gave us the private guided tour of the three estates, using her historical knowledge for the Aubineaux estate, then the tea factory (from picking to packaging) then accompaniment to the Saint Aubin estate with a traditional succulent meal Mauritian. sailen guided us in the discovery of spices, vanilla and the production of rum. real visit, we strongly recommend.

Excellent tour today with Sailen, me and my partner both fully enjoyed our day. The guide was full of knowledge and was very enthusiastic which makes things a lot better. Lunch at St Aubin was lovely, enjoyed how they incorporated the vanilla grown there in every course. Would highly recommend this tour and if you manage to get Sailen then you’re in for a good day! He also recommended restaurants for us to visit and filled us in with a lot of local knowledge. Also appreciate he did it on his day off!

Firstly, you should book your trip with Sailen. Sailen gave us one of the best experience in Mauritius ! This is something totally different from the beaches and the trips over the sea, which by the way you totally have to book, to explore the origins of Mauritius and the tee plantation, sugarcane production and of course the rum Money well spend!! Can recommend this trip with Sailen

Incredibly nice experience, our guide Sailen turned out to be a practically omniscient guest, he talked all day about everything we encountered along the way. A real treasury of knowledge, humor and smile. We recommend!!!!

The English speaking guide was very accommodating, friendly and very cheerful. It was a very nice trip to visit the tea plantation and the tea factory. We also liked the vanilla bean plantation. Highly recommended.
