Full description

Depart Split and journey to the Plitvice Lakes for around 11:30 AM to take in the beauty of 16 terraced lakes laced together by waterfalls and walking paths. Cross the 12 interconnecting lakes at the Upper Lakes (Gornja Jezera) and gaze in awe at the constantly changing color of the water, depending on the mineral composition, microorganisms that live in them and angle at which the sun hits the surface. Stroll across wooden bridges and paths that cross the cascades. Next, journey to the Lower Lakes (Donja Jezera) by boat and enter a fairytale world of natural limestone dams. Take in the views of the Great Waterfall (Veliki slap) and surrounding forest.

Meeting point

Meet at the main tourist bus terminal and taxi station (not the main bus terminal) in the Split old town. Please arrive 10 minutes before departure time. No refund will be issued for late comers or no-shows. You will find the meeting point between Obala Lazareta and Poljana kneza Trpimira, near Terminal F restaurant and the sign with SPLIT in letters.

Our tour guide was Elena and she was funny, lovely and very knowledgeable! Also, she faced a series of misfortunes that day (logistically and Plivitce related due to some heavy rains prior to the day of our visit) and she did not only handled everything amazingly but she was also very honest and kept us informed about what was going on. Totally recommend!

Totally work it!

Elena was a fantastic guide for our tour. She was full of fun facts and super sassy! The walk around Plitvice was a good 4hours but really managable for any level of fitness and there were alternative routes for anyone who wanted to skip ahead. The lakes are stunning and really worth making the journey for and I'm so glad we scheduled it in to part of our stay in Split.

This was a very enjoyable experience. There were some long lines, but it was not unbearable. Our guide knew a route through the park that avoided some of the lines, but some could not be avoided. The views are spectacular even though it is the dry season. The dry season means the falls are not as full as possible, but the trails were dry.
