We went to visit the lakes at the beginning of May: we were almost alone. So we had to take a private excursion and we do not regret! Our driver Mile made the trip from Split very pleasant and our guide Mirjana was lovely and gave us lots of valuable information about the place and Croatia in general. We made a stop at an excellent restaurant after our excursion. Clearly, in one excursion, we were able to enjoy the beauty of the Plitvice Lakes, the Croatian kindness (if you pass here thank you again Mile and Mirjana ♥ ️) and an excellent typical meal.

A transfer by minibus with a very friendly driver, a small group (there were 7 of us in total without counting the driver). A very friendly guide who seemed passionate about the park and gave us very understandable comments and spoke slowly: despite our fairly basic English, we understood everything. The park is magnificent: a visit not to be missed.

The lakes are impressive and worth visiting if you have time since it is an all-day excursion, although it is true that we did not see them all since the entire route is 6-7 hours. But the sections that the guide indicated to us was exact for the time we were there (we arrived at around 10.30am and left at 3.00pm). After the lakes a stop is made to eat in a Bistro, in my opinion it is a dead time and the return trip is longer, also within the lakes there is where to eat, but well it is included in the tour so we already counted with that. The return route was longer than the outward route since it was somewhere else and I imagine it was to see the surroundings, but there were sections of many curves and a road in worse condition. Finally say that although in October a lot of water falls through the waterfalls, the guide told us that the best time is spring. Another option is the Krka waterfalls, they are very good and are closer.
