Beautiful Sites, Terrific Guide/Driver, Subpar Accommodations and Food

Amazing places and should not be missed. 1) A driver will take you to the Ferry where you take the ½hour ferry by yourself. You are then picked up by your guide/driver, but it wasn’t clear where. Since our phone didn’t work, we were lucky to have someone call our driver. 2) You need a flashlight for your trip in Ijen. Luckily, we could buy one. Ventilation masks are provided since the sulfur fumes can be strong. 3) The hike to Ijen and down in the crater is strenuous. It is very steep and on dirt which can get slippery from the rain. You are walking in the dark. The Trek down the crater is steep and rocky. On top of that there are thousands. 4) There is a lot of driving. 2 hrs from ferry. 5 hrs to Mt. Bromo. 7 hrs to Borobudur. 2 hrs to airport. Our guide/driver, Anang was prompt, conscientious, accommodating, hard working, sweet, funny and knowledgeable. His English is good. The accommodations were subpar. The bathrooms were dirty & food wasn't good. Overall, it was a terrific.

We had an amazing trip. Thanks to our guide Bagus everything went smooth and we had no worries. The views were amazing. All and all, a great experience
