Full description
From Sorrento, drive along the breathtaking coastline to the picturesque town of Amalfi. Thanks to its privileged position on the sea, Amalfi was a powerful and prosperous maritime republic in ancient times. Nowadays the city is dominated by the imposing Cathedral of St. Andrew, which stands atop a great flight of steps leading up from the main square. After a guided tour introducing you to the history of one of the most beautiful towns in Italy, enjoy some free time and explore Amalfi on your own, or join an optional boat tour, sailing the along coast in the beautiful blue and green waters of the Salerno Gulf. On the way to Ravello, stop in a typical family restaurant in Scala for an optional lunch. Travel to the magnificent city of Ravello, full of historic, artistic, and architectural treasures. Visit the famous Villa Rufolo. Dating back to the second half of the 13th century, the villa is known as the spot where composer Richard Wagner wrote some of the verses of his opera "Parsifal" and Boccaccio wrote the Decameron, a work that later influenced Shakespeare. Take in the spectacular view from the villa's gardens, which overlook the sea, before heading back to Sorrento.
