What people are saying about Sololá Department
We had an excellent experience. We were picked up on time from our hotel. The guide explained the tour clearly. We visited a couple of indigenous settlements around the lake, attended a demonstration of the weaving process, and had plenty of shopping opportunities. The guide was knowledgeable, courteous, and was able to keep the schedule even though it was a busy market day with a lot of traffic and people on the streets. We returned at the appointed hour.
Everything about this tour was great, our guide was extremely knowledgeable. The ride was safe. The only thing to be aware of this does include the lake in the extent of eating at a restaurant overlooking the lake. I went for the market so I didn’t mind but if you want a more immersive lake experience this might not be the tour for you.
Wow what an amazing cultural day at the famous Chichicastenango market. It was unfortunate to see how the community has been negatively impacted by low tourism during the pandemic. We really enjoyed shopping, learning about the history, and marveling at the beautiful handmade items.
You got to know the history about the Mayans. Saw the market and the lake. Wish we had more time to buy stuff but it’s ok. Saving money. The best part was. There were two other local guides at the market that took you around so you wouldn’t get lost and helped translate.
I really liked the tour!! The guides were very professional! Chichastenango is not very pretty, but Panajachel is beautiful, as is Lake Atitlan! I recommend the tour!!!!
