As the trip was sold out it was a cosy journey! A slightly bigger bus would have been nice, whilst we were lucky to hear the guide on the way there I’m sure those in the back couldn’t hear anything. The guide in Macedonia was knowledgable but it was a very whistle stop tour. Not sure it was worth the £75 per person.

We had a transfer to Skopje, meaning that we had a Bulgarian driver who was supposed to explain the history of things as we drove. Our driver was not so good on the history. However, our Macedonian guide, Michael, was awesome. He explained the history all the way up to present day, and gave us his thoughts on political situations, which we could never get from the media. We left feeling that we understand much more about Macedonia. Skopje is a very interesting city and worth a couple of days of any trip to the Balkans.

The journey begins at a good time. The trip is a bit too long for a day trip. There are stops at appropriate intervals. Skopje had a knowledgeable guide on time. Skopje has a lot to see in a small area, so it's easy to see the main attractions. Maria Teresa was born here and has a small exhibition. The food is surprisingly inexpensive and yet the taste is really good.
