Skopelos: The Mamma Mia Island Tour

1. Skopelos: The Mamma Mia Island Tour

Start off your day in the morning and head towards the West Coast of the island before crossing to visit the Chapel of St. John (Ioannis), also known as the Mamma Mia wedding church.  Once arrived enjoy some free time and walk up the 199 steps to the top and get into the movie feeling or simply enjoy the stunning views and the cooling sea breeze from the top of the rock. The second stop is at Kastani beach for more in-depth film information and some relaxation at the new Kastani beach bar. See the place where major filming took place for more than 10 days and admire this beautiful beach proved to be the perfect film location. Next, stop at Panormos beach and swim in the crystal-clear waters or choose to enjoy lunch in one of the beaches tavernas.  Pass by another film location called “Three Trees” on your way back to Skopelos Town.

What people are saying about Skopelos Town

The guide (I think her name was Maxine) was really lovely, she shared a few extra info about the movie and even offered to take our photos along the way. The driver Dimitris is the best (I wouldn’t dare to drive along these narrow, steep and winding roads. Although you can visit the beaches by yourself (a few € for the bus), it’s a bit different driving along with Mamma mia fans and singing along to the music from the movie that is being playes throughout the trip. We also stopped at the olive oil factory for a taste test and got some goodies to take home. Souvenir shops are also at the church and beaches but I am missing some Mamma mia merch.

Fantastic experience! The tour guide was excellent, gave a lot of good facts about the movie, as well as the island history. I was worried all the stops would be jammed packed with tourists, but that wasn’t the case at all. I loved that we even stopped in a small village for lunch. There is also a “surprise stop” that isn’t part of the Mama Mia locations. Great tour, you won’t be disappointed. Make sure you start preparing now for the 199 stairs up to the chapel!

What a fabulous trip! Driver, Yannis was great driving on the narrow roads to the church. Our guide was great too, ensuring we were all enjoying ourselves. The ladies from Leeds dressed in all the Mamma Mia gear were great fun and added to the experience. Saw all the Mamma Mia sights we wanted to and the short visit to the olive oil factory was super. Thoroughly recommend this trip. You shouldn’t go to Skopelos without doing it!

Our tour guide Rigina and our bus driver Dimitris were very personable, had a lot of fun on the tour themselves and laughed a lot, which was passed on to the guests :) The stops on the tour were just great and we also learned a lot about the island :) We can only recommend the tour!

The tour was very competent and friendly, the bus driver was very skilful and great ABBA music was playing the whole time! Thank you for the great day
