Full description

Enjoy a day of culture, wine, and food as you visit some of the most impressive towns and villages in Tuscany. See the picturesque town of Pienza, and taste world-famous wines produced in Montalcino and Montepulciano.

Meet your guide in Siena and join the rest of the group to start your full-day tour. Depart Siena and transfer to a wine cellar in Montalcino. Cross gently rolling hills full of vineyards, and then sample local wines served with a delicious snack of the local produce.

Continue to Pienza to discover the “Touchstone of Renaissance Urbanism.” Considered an artistic jewel of the landscape of Val d’Orcia, Pienza is a perfect combination of architectural beauty and harmony.

Most of the lanes bearing impressive names overlook the breathtaking landscape of the Val d’Orcia. Unique smells and flavors are entwined with this natural and artistic heritage. Pienza’s most renowned tradition is pecorino cheese.

End the tour at Montepulciano, where the stateliness of its Renaissance buildings and the refined beauty of the town's churches mix with the ancient tradition of winemaking. Enjoy some free time before your return transfer to Siena by bus.

The trip itself was very nice and you can see a lot of the beautiful landscape. However, the tour guide was almost 20 minutes late in the morning - meeting point was 09:45 and the tour guide came by bus at 10:05. The tour was supposed to be in English but was added in Portuguese and Spanish. The explanations in these languages were also significantly longer than those in English. The tour guide was Brazilian and the English was not so easy to understand - the American couple we spoke to thought so too. The bus was very narrow, so my kneecaps hurt in the evening and it would have been nice to have clean windows on this scenic drive. Unfortunately, Montalcino can only be seen from afar on the mountain, since the wine tasting and tasting is done in the rural part. Pienza and Montepulciano were great and having free time locally was great as it gave you time to do your own sightseeing and have lunch.

Nice tour of Tuscany starting from Siena. The bus was on time. First stop for wine tasting. Good, but little information on wine making and only 3 wines tasted and a grappa offered. Then stop in Pienza and free visit with enough time to go around the town. Last stop in Montepulciano, without much interest. A wine tasting could be added to make the place more pleasant.

Was a great tour … excellent guide.. Luciano I think his name was … and bus driver great and careful … enjoyed wine tasting and Pienza was great … thunk abit of “ direction” in Montopulciano would have been great .. eg the deep underground cellars of Taluso are a “ must” visit …
