It was a very big day, with lots packed in. We loved San Gimignano and would have liked more time there. Perhaps if the brief stop at Monteriggioni was eliminated, we could have spent more time at San Gimignano. Siena is a beautiful city, and we appreciated having a little free time before a guided tour of the highlights of the city - thoroughly enjoyable and very interesting. A disappointment for us, however, was the lack of guidance. The tour guide travelling with us did provide us with some general, historical information en route to our stops, but she did not guide us through San Gimignano, Monteriggioni or Sienna at all. The guide who showed us Siena was introduced to us after our free time there, and only stayed with us for about an hour or so. It would have been much better to have been shown some of the highlights of our other stops, rather than just letting us wander freely without knowing what we were looking at! Our stop at a local winery was very enjoyable and tasty!
Our Guide was simply “Superb” in every way! She was extremely knowledgeable about the wine industry, the countryside and the history of the Castle we visited, as well as, the history of wine growers in Italy! The Location she choose for our lunch in Tuscany, was awesome, the food selection, preparation & taste was incredible. We were served on the patio with an unbeatable view of the winery, and oh, what a charming dining facility! It was my sister & brother-in-law 50th Anniversary, and this tour could not have been more perfect and more memorable! Thank you to everyone!
The tour was quite good though the group was rather large. Sara, our guide, bravely shepherded us through three towns. She was excellent - very friendly and caring. The balance between guided sightseeing and free time was good. The wine tasting was a bit of a disappointment. We really wanted to buy some wine for our one week stay in Florence, but we did not find the wines as good as what we had in restaurants.
Great tour hitting major spots, but winery could have been much better location. It was in a warehouse what seemed to be situated in an industrial area right off a highway ramp. Not at all the picturesque Tuscany vineyard I was looking forward to visiting. Guide was wonderful.
Elena was an excellent host! great explanation (in English) of the history of the winery/farm and Chianti Classico region. lovely walk around the grounds/cellars. had an excellent tasting with a variety of snacks.
