What people are saying about Siem Reap
This tour was well paced. I didn’t feel rushed at any point or that we were staying at one area too long. Our tour guide Mr. Toun Marin was so accommodating. As two female travelers he made us feel so comfortable and safe. He explained every site very well and helped us to take good pictures. At first we went to a look out point for sightseeing which was just breathtaking OMG!! Mr. Marin waited patiently and gave us time to take it all in. The temple visit was a sight to behold, there were many people lining the stairs leading to the temple asking for a donation. Inside the temple was a buzz of activity. The smell of burning incense was overpowering. The waterfall was so beautiful. The water wasn’t clear, almost looked dirty (brown) but we went in Eeek!! :) He explained that when the river is high the color is different. We had lunch then made another stop. It was a very lovely day and I’m happy I got a chance to see and experience everything that I did. Hope you do too!
Overall I had a good time. The 1000 Lingas should be emphasized more in this trip because it makes your mind boggle at how the carvings were made on the river rock bed. However it’s important for it to be a sunny day because if not you can’t see the Lingas clearly. Be prepared to swim in the waterfall pools to make the best of this trip. The guide spoke English, though he was not very clear on the historical parts of Cambodia, or the explanation of the gods Visnu, Shiva, etc. These explanations would have made the trip more worth it. There is an entrance fee of $18 per person, which is purchased by the guide at a discount. The meal was not included but you are taken to a nice clean restaurant. Avg $8. Our tour guide gave us an option to go by the Land Mine Museum which was worth the side trip for some history. $5 entrance fee. Communication with this tour company was not the best. The pick up time or ending time was not clear and did not get response by email.
I booked the Phnom Kulen trip, after reading the good reviews about it. Pick up was on time, Jose and his driver, "Mr. Bond" were great hosts! We were a small group (3), which was nice. Jose is an excellent guide, knows his history very well, is funny, and always attentive, if questions were asked. His English is very good as well. He explained the 1000 Linga river history, the Tempel rituals, and at the waterfall, made sure our belongings were safe, took pictures of us, and was there if we needed him. And Mr. Bond did an excellent job of navigating the streets, and making sure we always had cold water bottles as soon as we got back to the car! I highly recommend this trip, with Jose and his driver, Mr. Bond!! I would book them again in a heartbeat!! Thank you both for a very memorable day!
It was a wonderful visit to the Phnom Kulen waterfall and the river of the 1,000 Lingas. Han was a brilliant tour guide and very informative about the history of Cambodia and the various religious shrine at Phnom Kulen as well as the River of the 1000 Lingus and so much more. I was very impressed by his knowledge. He demonstrated great care in guiding me and helped with my bag, hat etc. It would be remiss of me if I do not mention how absolutely polite, patient and helpful he was during the entire trip... of course , not forgetting his kind help in taking photographs of me which will become an important part of my memories of this tour. My sincere thanks to Han for making this tour my best day in Siem Reap. 5* ++++++
Great experience! Definitely recommend. The pottery teachers were amazing at helping to craft a great piece to take home. We paid the extra to bring home two of our creations (only an extra $5). Would definitely recommend it!
