This half-day boat tour of the Floating Village is the perfect option for those who want to experience a true Cambodian floating village, with both pick up and return in either air conditioned car/mini vans or tuk tuk, not just a tour of the floating villages but a few stops along the way,one is the lotus farm, where our guide will explain the importance of the lotus flower and its many different uses, very educational and very interesting, and of course the Siamese crocodiles which are unique to SE Asia.
Your boat tour begins at your hotel or guesthouse, where a knowledgeable tour guide will pick you up and accompany you to the port near Phnom Krom . Let your friendly English and Khmer-speaking guides point out areas of local interest along the way and answer any questions you may have. En route to the main boat, make a couple of stops. First, as you pass the rice paddies and lotus fields, stop and take some photos of the lotus flowers, a deeply important flower in Buddhism (please note: depending on the time of year, the views of the lotus and rice fields will vary).
Next, stop at the crocodile and fish farm (depending on current water levels) and learn about some of the trades people on the lake work in. If catfish, crocodiles don't interest you, stop at the souvenir shop or viewing deck on board to purchase some presents for loved ones or take a few photos.
During your boat ride through the floating village, see ordinary Cambodians going about their daily life in the floating village. Your boat will briefly enter the edge of the Great Lake before docking at the Queen Tara, the biggest boat on the lake, in the heart of the floating village.
the unique thing about this village is it is in fact 2 different villages,as your guide will explain on this cruise.
There, enjoy a well-deserved snack with local fresh fruits and a cold drink. Afterwards, take a seat on the viewing deck, or explore our 100 year old riverboat (ex cargo boat),or relax on our hammocks and catch the cool lake breeze, our staff on board the Queen Tara Riverboat and all from the very floating villages you just visited, some can give you an expert look into the daily life of the villages. We will than enter our mini taras for the cruise back to the port area, again passing the floating villages along a different route, once back at the port area your transport will be waiting to take you back to your hotel or guesthouse and end of the tour.
