Siem Reap: Private Street Food Tour by Bus or Bike

8. Siem Reap: Private Street Food Tour by Bus or Bike

Cambodian cuisine is the least-understood of Asian cuisines by westerners and probably the least-tasted outside of the Kingdom of Wonder. While Thai and Vietnamese food is widely recognized, Khmer food is mostly a mystery to visitors. Heavily influenced by locally-sourced ingredients like freshwater fish from the Tonle Sap, sugar cane and coconut, Khmer cuisine is a little less fiery than other south east Asian national cuisines. It has its share of surprises too, and the Khmer script, while beautiful, can make menus difficult to navigate. Take a food tour like ours at the start of your visit to Cambodia, we'll arm you with the knowledge to order confidently in authentic Cambodian eateries and enjoy ingredients and dishes you might not otherwise recognize or feel brave enough to enjoy. Our guides are passionate foodies and friendly conversationalists who will help you chat to the market vendors you meet. Enjoy an authentic, delicious and great fun evening!

We really liked the tour! We were 4 people from Hungary & Austria, we were picked up at the hotel by 2 tuktuks and visited the local market. Not the one in the city center but a bigger one for locals at the side of the town with no tourists at all. Mr. Pheng has explained everything, told about the history, buildings, local lifestyle, everything in English. After the local market, we went to another area, where he showed us all the street foods including insects and any other stuff. If we liked something he stopped and bought it for us, it was not pre-arranged. After the tasting we went to a good restaurant where we had dinner. He was super helpful, kind, entertaining, I really recommend this tour to everyone who wants to taste the local food and wants to explore areas where less known by tourists.

We really had a wonderfull experience with David and mr Handsome (the driver). They picked us up at the right time at the hotel and after a short nice ride we arrived at the lake for an interesting tour. David had a lot of information about the way people live in the village on the water. After the nice boattrip they took us to a market for mostly local people to taste a bit of the Cambodian kitchen with some funny and some odd things. If you want to know what we have tasted, please check it for yourself. It's worth it! Many thanks to David and Mr Handsome! Greetings from Rick and Vince from the Netherlands

the food tour is excellent uniquely cambodian our guide, david showed us the traditional food of cambodia, even belut and silkworms. this is an interesting experience which we will not have experienced elsewhere in other countries. david is also patient, looking out for our safety and engaged us individually, taking care not to isolate us. i am glad to be on tour by david and enjoy the unique culture of cambodia through the tour! recommend 100%

It was an absolutely fantastic trip where we visited Tonle Sap, saw all the houses on the high stilts and sailed on the lake, visited a crocodile farm. We were also on the street food tour, we tasted the absolutely amazing and authentic Cambodian food. It was truly an experience that everyone should try. Our guide Mr. David was fantastic and so was our driver Mr. Handsome. We can only recommend this tour to everyone.

We had an unforgettable evening with our guide David. The tour more than met our expectations. We experienced the real, authentic cuisine of Vietnam. David was incredibly communicative and taught us a lot about the culture of his homeland. Thanks
