- Duration: 3 hours
Explore the alleys of Tokyo's Shinbashi area, known for its rustic izakayas (pubs) and food stalls. Grab some of the most satisfying food on the planet as you discover the vibrant district after dark! Start by entering the chasm of eateries overrun on a nightly basis by the working class of Japan. Join the thousands of businessmen who go to their favorite izakaya bar for a quick bite and cold beer before going home. Stop for some sashimi (raw fish), large gyoza (dumplings) and tamagoyaki (omelet), and then continue to a yakitori stall serving skewered meat and veggies cooked over an open fire. Savor an authentic okonomiyaki with a drink before heading back to Shinbashi Station for the end of the t...
An excellent walking tour that covered key elements of the history and culture behind specific cuisines, culinary techniques and establishment types. The insights were terrific and the food was outstanding!
Meet your guide and head towards the first beer bar. Start off the tour with your first pint at the bar you are visiting. Choose between a wide range of different craft beers to try. Listen to the facts about Japanese craft beer your local guide has to share. The bars chosen on this tour are located between Shinbashi to Ginza. Shinbashi is the place to soak up the casual nightlife. Explore the exciting night district like a local and enjoy your second beer of this tour. The final bar is located in Ginza, this district represents luxury. Take in the fancy atmosphere and enjoy a drink in the third bar of this tour. Enjoy different brands of craft beer that vary from microbreweries to Japanese famous beer companies throughout the tour.
Start the tour in Gado Shita, a lively restaurant district nestled underneath the train tracks and step into narrow, lantern-lined streets to get a taste of 70s-style Japan. Here, you’ll enjoy typical snacks and starters at local izakayas frequented by locals. Move on to Ginza, exploring high-end, specialty goods, like a $400 melon and visit a famous Sembei (rice cracker) shop which dates back to the early 1800s. Complete your evening by wandering through Shinbashi’s nearby maze of eateries, izakayas and standing bars. The tour finishes with one last bite - dessert, of course.
He gives so much information around the town and the cuture of Japan. We have a lot of fun and feel very good and save with him. He loves Japan very much and he represendet the country very powerfull. He knows much about the food and the difference in food to the other asian countrys. Always he said on the end, the japanese food is the premium food in the world. And we think, his opinien is right. I think it is not so easy to find a better guide. Greetings from Berlin Germany.

Joko and Norma have made for a very pleasant evening. The price was double and worth it. Delicious eaten in excellent cozy Japanese restaurants. Now I know that warm sake is actually not the best sake. This tour is highly recommended if you want to learn more about Tokyo
We had the best time with Ryan, our guide, who was both pleasant company and knew so much about Japan, the food and the culture. We tasted so much interesting and delicious food and had a great time. I would definitely recommend this tour.
