Full description
This one day bike tour aims to show you Shanghai at a leisure pace. We will casually pedal through a number of "must-see" sights and other locations you may miss on your own. At the beginning of World War II, about 30,000 Jewish people fled from Europe to Shanghai, calling themselves “Shanghailanders”. Most settled in the neighbourhood of the Hongkou District. The Ohel Moishe Synagogue served as the spiritual heart of this Jewish community, and currently houses the Museum for Jewish Refugees. A great way to see the city

I'd strongly recommend taking a bike tour to see familiar sites from a new perspective and to explore some new areas. Jen was a great guide and I felt completely safe under her guidance, even riding around People's Square! We went to Zhou Enlai's residence and several interesting markets as well as the Jewish Refugees' Museum, which was fascinating and moving. It's rare to go to a Holocaust-era museum which is about life and hope, but this one manages it thanks to Shanghai's wonderful efforts in WW2. We also had an excellent lunch. I'd recommend this tour to anyone who knows Shanghai pretty well - it's great to ride near the Bund (not on it, unfortunately, due to traffic restrictions) and through the Old Town near Yuan Gardens, as well as the welcome cool of the French Concession. Jen is a charming, enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide; some people whom I met on another tour were also singing Rose's praises. A great six hours with a fair amount of exercise, all very safely handled.
